Adhesive wear extension in metal fretting contacts was previously related to the partial pressure of oxygen gas a porous third body layer. Below threshold value, surface oxidation is no more possible and adhesive prevails inner part interface. The contact oxygenation concept (COC) allowing prediction dioxygen profile recently simulated for 2D analysis (i.e. 3D contact) using numerical Advection-Dispersion-Reaction (ADR) approach.
